In today’s post, we thought it might be fun to share a few interesting beer facts. For many of us, beer is just downright interesting. Whether it’s a unique microbrew that a local taproom is serving up or an odd ingredient that homebrewers are experimenting with, we want to hear about it. And so, without further ado, let’s take a look at…
Our Favorite Interesting Beer Facts
How Many People Are Drunk At This Very Moment?
According to a statistic we found on Factslides, “At any given time, 0.7% of the world is drunk, so about 50 million people are drunk right now.” That’s really something, isn’t it?
Beer Is...A Food?
Mental Floss clues us in on the fact that “fried beer won Most Creative Fried Food at the 2010 Texas State Fair.” Okay, we don’t know what fried beer actually is, but you can bet that we’d like to try it because it sounds absolutely glorious.
Beer Cans Are 85 Years Old This Year
Thrillist notes that beer cans have been around since 1933. This being 2018, it means that beer cans have been around for more than three quarters of a century. They also mention the fact that the beer that first occupied a can had an ABV of 3.2% “because that’s all the law allowed back then.” Hey, either way, we’re thankful for the fact that canned beer exists.
The Beer With the Highest ABV
And speaking of alcohol by volume, did you know that Sam Adams currently offers a beer that is 29% ABV? BrewDog’s Tactical Nuclear Penguin sits at a 32% ABV. Those are respectable, sure, but the crown goes to Brewmaster’s Snake Venom which has a shockingly high ABV of 67.5% and will run you about $50 for a bottle. Now that’s pretty wild!
Take a Dip in Beer
Cool Material shares that there is a brewery in Austria that has swimming pools filled with beer. That is indeed some cool material, and our thought on the matter is that it might be kind of fun to take splash about in some warm beer while drinking some cool beer. It’s kind of meta, but it sounds like fun to us!
