As makers of the world’s finest plastic beer crate, we’re pretty interested in what’s going on in the world of craft beer. Many homebrewers out there like to keep up with what’s happening and as many of them can attest, it’s pretty much always something odd or unique.

Luxury Hotels Are Brewing Their Own Beers
According to a recent article from Forbes, a number of hotels are now brewing craft beer onsite for their guests. These hotels are located in Denver, Tokyo, Scotland, Orlando, British Columbia, Shanghai, Peru, and Japan. Each hotel is, of course, serving up their own unique takes on regional favorites and some are even trying something completely new.
Which Cities Have the Most Breweries Per Capita?
Another bit of reporting from Forbes notes that when it comes to microbreweries per 100,000 inhabitants, there are some surprises. They mention that “Most people would probably point their finger at Portland, Oregon [because} the city has gained a serious reputation among beer lovers with a mammoth 68 microbreweries in operation, the most of any American city.”
In reality cities like Portland, Maine; Boulder, Colorado; and Asheville, North Carolina all have over 20 microbreweries per 100,000 inhabitants. As a matter of fact, Portland has 25.5. For those interested, the numbers break down to being a total of 17 microbreweries in Portland, 23 in Boulder, and 19 in Asheville.
There’s a Game of Thrones Beer
There’s no doubt about it. Game of Thrones is huge. Even the band The Hold Steady recorded a version of “The Bear and the Maiden Fair” which played during the end credits of a third-season episode.
The Full Pint reports that Ommegang recently announced the unveiling of a beer called Mother of Dragons. This beer, “a beer brewed for Daenerys Targaryen, is the third beer in this year’s Royal Reserve Collection, a series of four limited release beers, each designed and brewed as an homage to one of four epic figures engaged in the battle for the Seven Kingdoms.” It just might be worth a try!
